Facilities of St Mary's Nursery Group

The setting is an 18 place nursery, in a single storey building with wheelchair and buggy access. We also have a secure single entrance door.

Our ratios are:

1 adult to 4

2-3 year olds

1 adult to 8

3-5 year olds

The nursery offers an open plan layout with separate toilets for children and adults. All toilets and hand basins are child size to promote independence and good hygiene practices. Furthermore, we also have a substantial natural garden which is made up of different areas for the children to learn and explore in. The nursery also has a kitchen area where snacks are prepared by the nursery staff.

The nursery works in partnership with St Mary’s CE Primary School and is also very fortunate to be able to use some of the school’s facilities with the nursery children.

Please note that we welcome children that go onto any school in the area.

At St Mary’s Nursery Group we believe that parents/carers are paramount in their child’s welfare and early years’ education.

General Information

We place a huge emphasis on choice, independence and confidence building. The nursery staff carefully plan activities within the Early Years’ Foundation Stage framework.

The activities offered aim to engage the children and promote their learning through encouraging each child to become active and creative in their own learning.

The staff will observe and assess your child’s development and educational needs. The assessments will be recorded and form a learning journey of your child’s development whilst they are at the nursery. You will be able to look through your child’s learning journey at any time; likewise you can also discuss any concerns you may have with your child’s key person.
